Is chocolate really poisonous to dogs?
Verdict: Fact
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, both methylxanthines that dogs metabolize slowly. Dark chocolate and baking chocolate are most dangerous. Symptoms of poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, rapid breathing, seizures, and in severe cases, death. Even small amounts should be avoided.
